About West Coast Music Academy

West Coast Music Academy was founded by Jeff Novack in 2008. Before opening the school, Jeff was a touring, performing musician with a master's degree in music who also taught at several different places.

Jeff performed for about fifteen years before starting the school, touring around the country and internationally. After teaching for various schools and privately, he decided to open the first West Coast Music Academy location in Santa Clarita in 2008. In 2017, the school expanded with a second location in Granada Hills.

Our Teachers

We currently have over 30 instructors who teach a wide variety of instruments. Some teach at both locations, while others are based at just one school. Our teachers can handle students at any skill level–from people who've never touched an instrument before to advanced players and even professional musicians. They're adaptable and can teach various styles and genres based on what students want to learn.

Our Approach to Teaching

We believe in tailoring lessons to each student's goals and abilities. For children, teachers typically direct the curriculum and focus on building fundamental skills. For adult music students, we take a more collaborative approach, with instructors designing lessons around what the student specifically wants to learn.

We don't have contracts or semesters–our lessons are open-ended and ongoing month to month. We've found this flexibility works best for our students and allows them to progress at their own pace.
